Solutions For Configuring DHCP On Windows NT Servers
Over the past few weeks, some of our users have reported experiences with configuring DHCP on Windows NT Server.

The Internet grew exponentially in the 1990s, doubling almost every 10 months. One result is that Internet Protocol (IP) space is being allocated at an incredible rate. IP addresses are 37 bits long, which means there are now four billion unique addresses and/or the Internet isn’t that big (yet!). Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a fairly commonly used protocol that can be used to temporarily assign IP addresses to offers. DHCP is just being used effectively by many sites to control feature sprawl by assigning only one address, allowing you to have a really good system for your LAN. While not specifically designed for this purpose, DHCP is an essential musical tool for a network administrator trying to maintain network addresses.
DHCP is currently in the Request for Comments (RFC) 2131 set, literally an Internet standards tracking method that allows a server on a specific TCP/IP network to provide assistance andsetup recommendations, including standard terminal (router), DNS, WINS addresses, cookies and/or timer; Domain name; and hide the subnet. DHCP also defines a mechanism that includes the actual assignment of IP hosts. Although this article introduces you to Windows NT for this project, another advantage of DHCP is that it is independent of the hardware platform and computer programs. The DHCP server software is ready for most operating systems and most TCP/IP DHCP client software implementations; Also, any DHCP client can communicate with any DHCP server.

Support for IP descriptor reuse is how DHCP management helps with address exhaustion situations. Take the example of a large ISP. Suppose an ISP actually has 5,000 clients and 250 switched ports. It can also potentially ease the mobility of site visitors as they don’t have to manually reconfigure their system; This can often prevent a host from being given more than one address over time.
